OVERVIEW:

The Geospatial Software Developer will be integrated into our geospatial development team working in a fast-changing environment, designing and building software tools and applications using multiple languages such as Python, Java, and C#. The position will support multiple stakeholders to build geospatial applications that will improve the quality and efficiency of our operational processes along with tools and products for our current and emerging clients. The Developer will support our Intelligence Business Unit, and emerging business development opportunities.  

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Design and implement software solutions
  • Development of desktop and/or web-based geospatial solutions
  • Develop custom routines, viewers, and/or databases
  • Suggest new technologies and approaches, often demonstrating and championing their use
  • Work as part of a team to provide detailed software design solutions and actionable geospatial information and products to our customers, partners, and all parts of the company
  • Develop, test, and maintain modular software programs and tools developing scalable solutions to collect, store, analyze, and visualize geospatial data
  • Troubleshoot problems associated with existing geospatial applications, tools, and data. Ensure tools/applications are properly documented both internally and with user guides as needed
  • Manage scheduling and reporting requirements to stakeholders and management

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience developing in .NET, Javascript, iOS, HTML5, and/or Python
  • Knowledge of internet architectures and technologies
  • Knowledge of geospatial concepts
  • Familiarity with standard software development protocols and coding standards
  • Application documentation including system design and technical specifications
  • Development of custom geospatial solutions
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Geography/GIS, Engineering or related field. Additional experience can be substituted for education
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant skill experience in a software development role working with production teams to build applications. Additional education can be substituted for years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with ESRI, SocetGXP, ERDAS, and/or open source libraries to develop, modify, release and integrate tools, and applications into internal production or customer dissemination environments
  • Technical writing skills to complete software documentation
  • Ability to clearly communicate with employees at all technical levels within an organization
  • Existing DoD Secret clearance (preferred), or the ability to obtain one

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience developing geospatial applications
  • Application documentation including system design and technical specifications
  • MCPD and/or ESRI technical certifications
  • Experience developing in a team
