OVERVIEW:
We are seeking an experienced Virtualization Engineer for our mission-critical work program in Quantico, VA. The ideal candidate will partner with our customer and engineering team to create innovative technical solutions. You will be responsible for effective provisioning via virtualized systems, including installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of virtual desktop environment and related virtualized infrastructure.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Manage and maintain VMware on-premises virtualization environment and migration to cloud infrastructure;
- Ensure virtualized system and security health, perform related procedures, and adhere to organizational standards;
- Be accountable for administration, security and deployment of virtualized desktop/server configuration;
- Participate in technical design and implementation of VMware technologies using Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC), Horizon, and similar to support IT mission requirements;
- Integrate VMware technologies with Microsoft technologies (Windows Server and AD), and Linux technologies;
- Assist with systems administration including Active Directory, Microsoft SCCM, and other infrastructure services in the operational system environment
- Integrate Commercial off the Shelf (COTS)/Government off the Shelf (GOTS) products to support mission requirements; and
- In coordination with the security team, identify and mitigate security risks and vulnerabilities, and implement controls to mitigate risks and maintain accreditation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five (5) or more years virtualization architecture and implementation experience, consisting of designing, managing, and maintaining an enterprise scale VMware virtualized environment using virtualization products such as vSphere and vCenter
- Advanced knowledge/experience managing and maintaining virtualized server/workstation environment, AWS hybrid cloud and cloud-based storage platforms.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field of study. A combination of experience and comparable technical certification such as VMware Certified Professional or
- Expert may be substituted for education.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Virtualized server architecture design and deployment experience preferred.
- Experience working with technical teams in government environments.
- Experience supporting federal government information technology systems.
- Experience working directly with customers.
