OVERVIEW:
We are seeking for a talented System Engineer that is passionate about technology and the mission of our customers to join our team! This individual will help and refine new capabilities and plan and track the execution of these capabilities, working closely with the Program Management, Product Management, Architecture, Solution teams and government, to understand, propose, and execute cutting edge capabilities for intelligence systems.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Guides the successful completion of major engineering programs and may function in a project leadership role.
- Develops advanced solutions to highly complex engineering problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
- Performs advanced systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end.
- Provides and applies advanced engineering to highly complex infrastructures including installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Provides and applies advanced engineering skills to highly complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
- Performs continual maintenance and provides advanced solutions for continual and highly complex security, backup and redundancy problems.
- Prepares and maintains all documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.
- Provides guidance to less-experienced Systems Engineers.
- Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology, always on the lookout for new technologies, and works with management to evolve current processes.
- May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals. May serve as a team or task leader. (Not a people manager).
- Performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, model formulation, computer architecture analysis and design, and digital systems engineering. Invents innovative ways to drive production operational efficiency.
- Drives scalability and operability of supported systems/infrastructure.
- Implements, manages and enhances Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline tools.
- Creates, maintains, and reviews Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Desired State Configuration (DSC) and/or Puppet configuration management tools to support the provisioning infrastructure. Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- Minimum 10 years of experience working as a systems engineer or in a related field
- Creates and analyzes highly complex software engineering architectures and designs.
- Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software systems, including, but not limited to application software, utility software, development software, and diagnostic software.
- Participates in the development of test strategies, devices, and systems.
- Has the technical background and skills to perform in all phases of software design, development, documentation, and implementation.
- Ability to design and develop advanced networking techniques.
- Thoroughly understands software engineering and programming for large computer and minicomputer and microprocessor systems supporting a broad base of applications.
- Background in requirements analysis, design, and coding methodologies; documentation standards; configuration management; DoD software policies; and DoD test and evaluation requirements; real-time operating systems, distributed systems, modeling and simulation; database design and management, and resource utilization assessment.
- Typically works in highly complex areas where ingenuity and creativity are required to provide solutions to major design problems.
- Has experience with JMeter.
