OVERVIEW:
We are seeking for a Mainframe Storage Administrator to support our federal client located in Durham, NC. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting in the design, development, testing, and management of the storage subsystems, storage software, and resilience infrastructure. Incumbent will provide mainframe storage engineering support to manage the increasing number of complex interrelated Agency DASD-based and virtual-tape-based mainframe applications across multiple data centers.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supports mission critical mainframe application systems and databases
- Analyzes and develops plans and requirements for moderately complex-to-complex systems.
- Coordinates and manages the preparation of analysis, evaluations, and recommendations for proper implementation of programs and systems specifications
- Possesses strong experience in mainframe storage-infrastructure design and programming on Online Transaction Processing (OTLP) database management-based systems
- Analyzes functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities.
- Develops block diagrams and logic flowcharts.
- Translates detailed designs into computer software.
- Develops and perform test/debug functions.
- Refines computer software to produce the required product.
- Participates in the documentation of systems, infrastructures, and procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, strong oral presentation skills, and the ability to understand and articulate English in a clear and concise manner are required
- The selected applicant will be subject to a company and federal standard background check and drug testing
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline.
- Must have four (4) years of experience.
- Must be able to report for on-site support at the location in Durham, NC. Position is currently remote but will transition back to on-site support per government requirements.
- Experienced in:
- Direct-access storage device (DASD)
- Enterprise disk storage fundamentals
- Enterprise tape/virtual tape storage fundamentals
- Enterprise storage management fundamentals
- Enterprise operational recovery and business resilience fundamentals
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Master’s Degree is preferred.
- A Master’s Degree in one of the above disciplines equals one year specialized and two years General Experience
CLEARANCE:
- US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
