1837 - Space Flight Safety Tools Integrator

OVERVIEW:

We have a great opportunity for a career-oriented, Space Flight Safety Tools Integrator to join our team of highly skilled professionals, supporting our Intelligence Community customer in Springfield, VA.  At the heart of national security, we’ve been embedded into this cutting-edge program for over 6 years where our team has tremendous opportunity for meaningful growth. The ideal candidate will be experienced in space operations, possess a holistic understanding of the space domains overhead collection enterprise and software integration.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Provide operational support to and assessment of mission critical systems performing orbital collision avoidance, laser predictive avoidance, and radio frequency analysis.
  • Collaborate with space flight safety operators to assess the use of new operational products.
  • Works under general direction to independently determine solutions in a high tempo environment.
  • Coordinates with development engineers to evaluate current tools and provide input for future designs to ensure operational applicability.
  • Assess new customer software for feasibility, operability, and ensure comparable products and results are achieved.
  • Apply a wide range of knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts relating to orbital flight safety tools integration, plus knowledge of related disciplines gained through wide exposure.
  • Exercise sound judgement to avoid erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure or resources.
  • Implement imaginative, thorough and practical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
  • Develop verbal and written briefs explaining software issues, analysis, root cause, and corrective actions for customer leadership.
  • Read and decipher programming languages such as Perl to identify issues within software.
  • Minimal travel is expected. While this position will accomplish most tasks Monday to Friday, normal day hours, due to the non-routine operations environment, work may be required outside those times.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have BS/BA (or equivalent experience) in a technical field.
  • Must have five (5+) years orbital mechanics, flight safety and/or vulnerability testing, collision avoidance, satellite operations analysis, intelligence analysis, and/or defensive space control experience.
  • Two (2) years of systems engineering education or experience.
  • Two (2) years of satellite or space operations experience.
  • Two (2) years using Perl scripts, STK, Matlab, Microsoft Office products, especially PowerPoint and Access.
  • One (1+) year of NRO or Intelligence Community experience.
  • One (1+) year of space training experience.
  • One (1+) year of software integration experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MS/MA/MBA (or the equivalent) desired with three (3+) years satellite operations or space control experience.
  • Three (3) years of systems engineering education or experience.
  • Three (3) years using Perl scripts, STK, Matlab, Microsoft Office products, especially PowerPoint and Access.
  • Two (2+) years of NRO or Intelligence Community experience.
  • Two (2) years of Astrodynamics orbit analyst education or experience.
  • Two (2) years of satellite or space operations experience.

CLEARANCE:

  • TS/SCI with CI Poly minimum
