1657 - Red Hat Platform Engineer

GENERAL DUTIES:
The qualified candidate will work with technical engineers in leading, building, managing and supporting the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) platform, leading automation initiatives. The successful candidate it a self-starter who has a well-rounded hands-on experience, ability to analyze requirements, experience in leading development and automation initiatives, and provide assistance in identifying and fixing platform and OS issues. Work activities include:

  • Collaborate with end users and project team members on development of requirements and design of applications
  • Lead efforts in working with stakeholders in establishing standards and defining processes for supporting applications. Identify opportunities to utilize automation for defining, building and automating repeatable processes using Ansible Playbooks, scripting (Python) and utilize Ansible Tower for deployments
  • Adhere to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in managing scripts and applications utilizing tools such as BitBucket, GitHub and Kubernetes.
  • Develop processes and procedures for new and current management o the RHEL server environments
  • Lead analysis, troubleshooting and resolution of infrastructure and application issues in conjunction with application owners and vendors

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 7 years of work experience, or Master's Degree and 5 years of work experience, or 11 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • 7 years of experience as a RHEL Linux Systems Engineer/Administrator
  • 7 years of experience monitoring and optimizing the performance of RedHat systems
  • 5 years of experience developing and using Red Ansible Playbooks and using Ansible Tower platform
  • 5 years of experience in developing applications and scripts using tools such as Python, Bash or Ruby)
  • 2 years of experience using BitBucket, Kubernetes, GitHub
  • 3 years of experience developing Technical Documentation and User Documentation

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • RHCE or RHCA (Red Hat Certified Engineer or Red Hat Certified Architect).
  • Experience with Linux kernel internals, patching, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, bug fix updates, and core builds
  • Experience using Bash Scripting to automate daily OS level tasks, monitoring
  • Experience with application build automation tools like Jenkins, and Git
  • Experience with Performance tuning and monitoring (i.e. Nagios and Solarwinds)
  • Knowledge of Red Hat Satellite Server
  • Knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift
  • Knowledge of DevOps and continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) or modern application frameworks
  • Knowledge of and operational experience with methodologies related to Agile and DevOps
  • Knowledge of enterprise server security and patch management
  • Knowledge of configuration and change management
  • Familiarity with managing and maintaining Virtualization technologies
  • Technical documentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including strong writing skills
