We are working with our customer to modernize legacy applications into newer platforms to provide the ability to containerize the applications and migrate them to cloud infrastructures. Our multidisciplinary development team works closely with the users to prioritize hundreds of applications and their corresponding refactoring. Concurrently, we are building new applications that will change the process by which users perform their daily mission and interact with the tools. This role will be responsible for the initial designs of the application's front end and will work with the team as as a front end developer using modern JS frameworks as the main development language. We are seeking a results-driven Front End Developer who will be consulting with senior business managers on application requirements, incorporating desired functionalities into a responsive UI/UX application using the latest technologies. Must have experience in implementing new designs, optimizing existing user interface designs, testing for intuitively and experience, communicating with clients to understand their business goals and objectives, developing technical and business requirements and always strive to deliver intuitive and user-centered solutions, combining creativity with an awareness of the design elements, creating prototypes for new product ideas, and conduct an ongoing user research

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Gather requirements for front end using graphics software applications, techniques, and tools.
  • Illustrates design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps,
  • Designs graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets
  • Work closely with users to determine the feature set they desire and how to cleanly present this feature set within the application
  • Design wireframes of potential designs using modern wireframing tools such as Balsamiq or Adobe XD
  • Test designs with users in a focus group setting to determine what works and doesn’t work with the design, and to apply feedback from earlier sessions
  • Implement wireframes using HTML/CSS/JavaScript and/or a modern JS framework such as Vue, React, or Angular
  • Work with back-end developers to integrate functionality from the server-side of the application
  • Test and improve the accessibility and web standards of applications using tools such as screen-readers and alternative forms of navigation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

  • Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch or similar tool
  • Proficiency in a modern JavaScript framework such as Vue, React, or Angular NodeJS environment proficiency
  • Experience working with a package management tool such as NPM or Yarn
  • Experience with building and deploying front-end applications using tools such as Webpack and Babel
  • General working knowledge of the full stack in order to diagnose problems and communicate with back-end developers. Deeper knowledge of the server-side layer technologies such as Python, Java, or Ruby on Rails a plus
  • Familiarity with web standards for accessibility and how to implement them
  • Experience with screen-reading technologies such as JAWS or NVDA
  • Familiarity with common design heuristics, such as those developed by Nielson, and how to implement them
  • Experience with wireframing tools such as Balsamiq or Adobe XD a plus
