GENERAL DUTIES OVERVIEW

  • Provide development engineering and programming support to projects and IT infrastructure support activities
  • Design and develop enterprise applications in a web environment
  • Develop, create and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs
  • Analyzes user needs and develops software solutions
  • Designs software or customizes software for client use
  • May analyze and design databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team
  • May design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain websites and web applications
  • Provides support, analysis, research, and advice into complex problems
  • May serve as the technical expert on project teams providing technical direction, interpretation, and alternatives  
  • Perform highly specialized and technical tasks associated with the most current and cutting-edge technologies
  • The primary locations: Herndon, VA and Chantilly, VA

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in AWS environment (GovCloud, C2S experience preferred)
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in a Linux environment
  • Experience with Agile, DevOps, or DevSecOps methodologies
  • Hands on software development experience and in-depth knowledge of Java and Python
  • Hands on experience and in-depth knowledge designing and developing database management systems
  • Hands on experience and in-depth knowledge of data feed automation (Apache NiFi or similar)
  • Hands on experience and in-depth knowledge of data formatting and conditioning (for data lake or similar)
  • Hands on experience and in-depth knowledge of data indexing and search (SOLR, ElasticSearch, or similar)
  • Hands on experience and in-depth knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, Kibana, or similar)
  • Experience analyzing cross-functional problem sets, identifying root causes and resolving issues
  • Works individually, actively participates on integrated teams, and leads multiple tasks, projects or teams

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related
  • Hands on experience and in-depth knowledge of one or more of the following:
  • Cloud open source tools and platforms
  • AWS C2S including AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI), Amazon Machine Images (AMI), Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Simple Storage Service (S3), Elastic Block Storage (EBS), Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), CloudWatch, Autoscaling or similar
  • Security controls across application, data, cloud hosting, and external interfaces including cryptography, privilege separation, role-based access control (RBAC), attribute-based access control (ABAC), auditing, patching, Operating System hardening, or similar
  • Automated provisioning technologies or methods (Jenkins, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar)
  • JavaScript
  • JavaScript Libraries to include Agular.js, Node.js, D3.js
  • Ruby on Rails
  • Groovy on Grails
  • Version control (GitHub or similar)
  • Code scanning tools
  • Vulnerability scanning tools
  • NoSQL
  • Docker
  • Integration with Identity, Authorization, and Access Control systems
  • AWS certification (Solutions Architect, Developer, DevOps)

  • Experience designing, developing and delivering high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems
  • Oversees and monitors application, system, and service performance, and when required, takes steps to resolve issues
  • Directs multiple teams through project completion
